ISCC Plus certification is now part of our process at IP Triana. We have obtained this certification, which guarantees the use of recycled materials through chemical recycling and ensures traceability throughout the production chain.
We continue to make progress in our commitment to sustainability. We are therefore pleased to share that we have achieved ISCC Plus certification, an internationally recognised system that accredits the use of recycled or renewably sourced materials and ensures traceability throughout the value chain.
What is ISCC PLUS certification?

ISCC Plus (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is a certification standard to demonstrate the responsible use of circular raw materials, such as chemically recycled, bio-based or non-fossil based materials. It is a voluntary but demanding system that responds to growing market demands for transparency and environmental responsibility.
In our case, this ISCC Plus certification guarantees the incorporation of recycled material through chemical recycling processes, ensuring that the products meet environmental and technical traceability criteria.
What benefits does ISCC Plus offer?
– Offer packaging with certified recycled content, guaranteeing the same technical performance as virgin materials.
– Full traceability along the entire value chain, from the origin of the raw material to the final product.
– Use of recycled materials suitable for food contact, such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE) and polystyrene (PS), which is difficult to achieve with mechanical recycling due to the heterogeneity of the waste.
– Use of waste that cannot be mechanically recycled, thus contributing to a more efficient and responsible management of resources.
This allows us to offer our customers a reliable solution that is aligned with their own sustainability objectives.
What is chemical recycling and what makes it so important?
Chemical recycling consists of breaking down polymers into their original monomers, which allows them to be reused as raw materials in the manufacture of new polymers. This process results in materials with properties equivalent to those produced exclusively from virgin raw materials.
In contrast to mechanical recycling, chemical recycling allows complex plastic waste to be transformed into high-value secondary raw materials suitable for new applications. This opens the door to an advanced and technically feasible circular economy.

Traceability in these products is established by mass balance, an approach widely used to verify the proportion of recycled material incorporated in the final products.
Traceability by mass balance
Mass balance is a traceability system used when recycled or sustainable materials are processed together with virgin raw materials within the same production environment.

Rather than requiring physical separation of materials, this approach relies on rigorous control of the quantities entering and leaving the system, allowing a verifiable allocation of a proportion of recycled content to the final products.
A certified commitment
At IP Triana we believe that sustainability is not just a statement, but a way of working. The ISCC Plus certification reinforces this commitment and positions us as a reliable partner for those looking for more responsible and traceable packaging solutions.
